Former Lockton assistant vice-president Vlad Polyakov has joined Capsicum Re’s cyber team, working closely on reinsurance growth with venture partner Arthur J Gallagher.

Polyakov, who will report to Capsicum Re partner Ian Newman, held the role of assistant vice-president of global technology and privacy practice at Lockton Companies LLP for two years. Prior to this, he worked as a technology PI and cyber broker at JLT.

He will be responsible for developing new cyber products and bringing additional reinsurance capacity into the market.

Polyakov said: “Capsicum Re is arguably the leading cyber reinsurance broker. The cyber market is growing rapidly, and with significant updates to EU privacy legislation expected next autumn, demand shows little sign of decreasing.”

Arthur J Gallagher’s entire reinsurance team transferred to Capsicum Re in October last year.

Newman said: “The cyber insurance market is seeing an unprecedented level of interest from customers, but there is insufficient capacity available to meet this increasing demand.”

“Our focus is on building a specialist team and utilising their insight and expertise to make more capacity available to the market. Vlad’s appointment enhances our reputation as the go-to cyber reinsurance broker.”
