Ethnic minority leaders and role models from Clear Insurance, Allianz, Aviva and Aon have featured on the 2022 Empower ethnic minority lists

A number of insurance sector personalities have today (19 May 2022) been named in the 2022 Empower ethnic minority lists.

The Empower lists have been created by diversity and inclusion organisation Involve with support from Yahoo Finance and celebrates leaders that are ”breaking down barriers for people of colour in global business”.

Founded in 2017, the Empower lists aim to “celebrate inspirational people of colour”, highlight the lack of ethnic diversity within businesses at executive level and push for black, Asian and ethnic minority inclusion at all organisational levels.

This year, Ajay Mistry, Clear Insurance’s head of digital sales and marketing, made the Top Insurance Leaders list again.

He told Insurance Times: “It is fantastic to see so many ethnic minority leaders in insurance on the lists this year – showing us that the talent is there, we just need to look for it more.

“We have made some great strides in the insurance industry boosting ethnic talent in the last few years, but we still have a long way to go to catch up to other industries.”

Mistry is also the co-founder and co-chair of the insurance Cultural Awareness Network (iCAN). He also sits on the Chartered Insurance Institute’s (CII) Board of the Society of Insurance Broking as well as the Shadow Board of Inclusion at Lloyds of London.

The lists each rank the 20 highest achievers in order, with those in places below 20 listed in no particular order. The insurance leaders in 2022’s Empower lists are as follows:
