Former Ink boss Mike Smith says his new MGA is seizing on advances in technology

Incorporated Insurance Group (IIG) is using web video links via Skype and Lync to build stronger trading relationships between its underwriters and brokers.

The MGA said the changes would enable its underwriters to trade face-to-face with brokers.

IIG said the move had been prompted by the increasing number of people with access to video technology on mobile devices.

All members of the team are now available on Skype and Lync.

The upgrade comes as the managing general agency has moved into larger offices in Essex.

Chief executive Mike Smith said: “We run a business based on trading with our partner brokers who have offices up and down the country.

“Our experience shows us that the best business is written face-to-face, which is why we have invested in regional development managers with the powers to write business in brokers’ offices.

“As much as we would like to look into the whites of their eyes on every risk this isn’t always possible.”
