Amlin has confirmed it was the lead underwriter on the Chinese passenger plane which this week crashed and killed 53 passengers
The Shanghai-bound plane was insured for $24m (£12.8m). Cover for Shanghai-based Chinese Eastern Airlines is placed jointly with several other airlines on a Civil Aviation Administration of China hull and liability programme that renews on 1 December.
