Fleet Product of the Year

New for 2019

This category is designed to recognise outstanding fleet products and their impact on the market.

The Insurance Times’ editorial team selected a shortlist of insurers/MGAs which are the top rated providers for fleet products according to brokers surveyed in our Broker Service Survey.

Providers selected were invited to present to a panel of judges who decided on the winner. Judges wanted to know how the fleet product has benefited the insurance community (brokers and customers) in areas such as quality of cover, claims, and overall expertise and support

All the finalists are listed below. Use the links to find out more from the entrants who have answered our series of Q&As.

"We've been really impressed with Aviva's involvement in our Oilshield insurance scheme, which is proving to be very popular amongst Fuel Oil Distributors and Associated Trades. To have the backing of an insurer the size of Aviva brings great strength to our product. Having Matt and his dedicated team at Aviva who understand the complex risks involved with our industry has made our solution a straight-forward one." Dave Gardiner, Evergreen Insurance Services

"Direct reporting of any claims/incidents from our client's drivers to the Aviva claims department has radically improved the service provided. The claims handlers are able to ask the right and relevant questions to the driver involved, which in turn has enabled them to offer guidance to the client directly and offer assistance to other parties when appropriate. Without doubt this has had a significant improvement on reducing claim costs. From our claims perspective as a broker, this has taken away some of our workload and speeded up the process with respect to FNOL reporting. Every morning when we logon we have email from Aviva with details of any claims reported the previous day. If there were none, we still receive an email confirming 'no incidents'. It's efficient and easy. This is the way forward, and certainly helps to bring together good working relations between the policy holder and Aviva claims team." Aviva broker.

We will share the story of the success across our underwriting community and associated areas such as claims and risk management as it's a wider team effort to have been shortlisted let alone win. We will need to make sure our brokers and clients are made aware of this prestigious award and will engage our marketing areas to ensure we capitalise. But most importantly we will enjoy the success and ensure the research and pilots we are currently working on will secure more attempts at the award in the future.

Covéa Insurance

What key achievement did your entry highlight?

Our entry highlighted the exceptional work that we have done in 2019 with the development of two new propositions. This has demonstrated our commitment to fleet market, our ambition to grow and develop and our focus on delivering good customer outcomes and products to the market. These two propositions, one being entry into a very challenging (and often avoided) sector of the market to support an expert, local broker and the other being the development of a new product for a progressive MGA in another niche sector of the market.

QBE

What key achievement did your entry highlight?

We believe QBE is the only insurer to offer capacity across all vehicle types insured conventionally and non-conventionally. We maintain a disciplined and sustainable underwriting approach. We are open-minded and work in partnership to develop our knowledge, with motoring organisations such as Brake, RoSPA, Confederation of Passenger Transport, Freight Transport Association, and other leading risk management providers. We are widening our claims network to provide customers with local and specialist services, as well as increasing the number of mobile and pop-up repairs to support customer choice, leading to less off-road time.

Can you share data or testimonials to back up your bid to win?

We're investing heavily in data analytics and robotics to deliver faster decisions, fair and consistent settlements, and enhanced fraud prevention, so customers don't pay the price for others' dishonesty. Where bots have been introduced, we've seen the time from claim creation to claim settlement improve dramatically. We're also working with partners on the use of telematics and camera data to the point where we can send camera data straight through to our claims team within an hour of an incident, leading to faster decisions.
