Tough investment markets mean that companies are reviewing their investment management strategies and may start outsourcing more, according to investment managers Schroders.
Spokesman Robert Noach said: "Because of low investment returns, insurers are having to focus on core insurance business and are looking at what they should be doing in terms of investment management. Some are getting out of
it and outsourcing it to specialists like us.
"A few years ago everyone thought it was very easy to make money in investment markets. We are living in a very different world now."
This means that the tough investment markets could help business. He said: "People are realising that they have to go to specialists like us. It has turned a problem into an opportunity."
Schroders said they attended the CII conference last year as delegates and are exhibiting for the first time this year.
"We are the only specialist fund management company here and we are looking to provide services to a lot of the insurers. We have a range of services on
offer," Noach said.
Schroders are highlighting four investment solutions at this year¹s conference, namely Product Infill, Tailored Product Solutions, Unitised and Segregated Funds and Strategic Alliance.
