Takeover breakdown ruffles Towergate supremo's feathers

It could have been Cullum’s deal of the year. But the Towergate supremo’s bid for Norwich City Football Club was beaten at the final whistle. Cullum, who has netted over a hundred acquisitions with Towergate, was unable to bag the canaries.Cullum had been in discussions with Norwich City's majority shareholders Delia Smith and Michael Wynn Jones after announcing that he was prepared to invest £20m in to club.

Both the discussions ended in a no score draw after they were unable to come to a “mutually acceptable” agreement.

As Backchat reported earlier this month, Cullum wanted to restore the club to the glory days of 1993 when the team defeated the mighty Bayern Munich in the second round of the Uefa Cup.

Cullum, a Norwich season ticket holder, played at centre-back for Norwich City Boys.
