The FSA has published application fees for general insurance and mortgage firms who wish to have FSA authorisation once regulation comes into force.
Many smaller firms will pay less then originally proposed in CP180, said the FSA, because additional fee bands have been introduced following concerns raised during consultation.
Firms will be able to register for an application pack from early November. At the same time a contact centre to provide help with registration will be launched by the FSA.
Those firms that apply early over the internet will be eligible for a discount on their application fee, said the FSA.
FSA director of high street firms Sarah Wilson said: "The smallest firms will pay an application fee of £500 if they apply early and electronically. Initially, we expect the minimum annual fee to be around £750."
The early discount deadline for insurance intermediaries is 31 May 2004. For mortgage firms the deadline is 31 March 2004. If a firm is applying for both mortgage and general insurance application, the deadline is 31 March 2004.
