Endsleigh Insurance Services has conducted research into the likelihood of different professions claiming on their motor insurance. Surprisingly, members of the insurance industry came top in two categories and second in another - meaning they have the worst record overall.
The research was split into three claims categories - accidental damage, property damage and fire and theft.
Insurance professionals were joint top in the accidental damage category and also top in the property damage category. They came second in the fire and theft category.
Police officers were found to have one of the best claims records - showing they "practice what they preach" as Endsleigh put it.
Endsleigh spokesman Stuart Wartalski commented: "We were very surprised to find insurance workers so high up the list of professions likely to make a claim on their motor insurance.
"The only explanation we can think of for this is the relatively young age of many people in the industry now following the introduction of call centrees over the last ten to fifteen years."
