Always intent on grabbing headlines for his unusual insurance covers, Bristol broker Simon Burgess has just sold a policy to comedian Rich Hall, covering "permanent and total loss of humour".

The policy will pay out £1m if the comedian, who has appeared on shows such as "Have I Got News for You", finds his sense of humour has failed him.

But, according to the policy wording, a payout is unlikely to happen, as it states that "the burden of proof rests with the claimant".
