New Ireland Assurance has launched a life technical manual for brokers, written by New Ireland's technical services specialist Eleanor Hendy.

It covers all technical aspects of life assurance, such as wills, family law, marriage breakdown, trusts, key man and business protection and capital acquisition tax.

The manual also covers the taxation of life policies, including the Finance Act 2001 amendments and a guide to tax, personal retirement savings accounts and social welfare benefits.

New Ireland marketing director David Swanton said the company had always had a strong relationship with brokers and was delighted to provide the manual.

"There will always be a need for comprehensive product and taxation technical support," he said.

New Ireland, established in 1918, was the first wholly Irish-owned life assurance company to do business in Ireland.

It is now a subsidiary of the Bank of Ireland, with headquarters in Dublin.
