Lloyd's investors to pick up £564m bill
Names will have to pay Lloyd's an average of £33,000 each. The demand follows a similar request for approximately £46,000 four months ago.
Last September, syndicates asked investors for £780m to fund losses arising from the World Trade Centre attacks. Now 29 syndicates have requested a further £564m to cover liabilities arising primarily from 1998 to 2001.
Some syndicates are calling for more than 20% of their capacity for a single accounting year. These include Crowe 808 which is requesting around £18.5m for 2000 and Sackville 1173 (formerly Cottrell & Maguire) demanding £50.3m for the previous year.
