Amlin said trading conditions remained positive with the company continuing to benefit from a low loss incidence so far this year. It said the outlook for underwriting conditions in 2004 was good.

In its third quarter Syndicate forecasts, Amlin said it continued to experience good trading. Syndicate 2001 recorded gross written premiums, net of brokerage, of £743m for the first nine months of 2003. This is an 18% increase on figures for the same period in 2002.

Amlin's share of this was 86.25. It said underwriting conditions had remained strong in most lines of business.

It said the fourth quarter of the year was the main airline renewal season, with experience to date in the current renewal season suggesting that aviation rates were stabilising to acceptable levels.

Amlin said claims experiences continued to be good. Catastrophe loss incidence continued to be low, with loss experience since June being well within the company's business planning expectations.
