Consultations follow claims handling review

Aviva will cut 120 jobs from the Sheffield office of its claims management arm Asprea.

Aviva said the planned redundancies followed a review of its property claims handling. Aviva claimed that the changes at Asprea will give customers a more streamlined claims service.

In a statement, Aviva said it was integrating its desk-based property claims and surveyor roles in Sheffield with its existing property claims centres in Perth and Southend.

“Work in IT HR, and finance that support these teams will be transferred into the wider Aviva business,” the statement said.

“Unfortunately, this means that around 120 roles are currently at risk. We appreciate this is a difficult time for employees and we will be working closely with them to provide the support they need as well as discussing possible re-deployment options with them.”

Aviva director of property claims Caroline Cooper said: “Today’s announcement aims to create a simpler service for our household and commercial customers with fewer people involved in the handling of their property claim. But we appreciate this is also a difficult time for our employees and we will be working with them to provide the support they need and will be offering re-deployment opportunities where we can.”
