The Insurance Times Five Star Ratings distil the outputs of the long‑established Broker Service Survey into a clear, practical benchmark that helps brokers identify the insurers best suited to their clients. Using an intuitive Five Star system, insurers are assessed on the quality of experience they deliver to brokers — with the strongest performers earning the highly respected Five Star rating.
For brokers, these ratings provide a valuable, real‑world reference point grounded in the experiences of their peers. They support more confident insurer selection, strengthen client recommendations, and ultimately help brokers deliver a higher standard of service.
For insurers, the Five Star Rating Report offers a transparent performance benchmark against the market. It highlights where they excel, where improvement is needed, and enables standout providers to differentiate themselves as trusted, broker‑centric partners — based on genuine, unfiltered feedback from brokers across UKGI.

This is the sixth year that Insurance Times has conducted the MGA survey, investigating brokers’ opinions, attitudes and levels of satisfaction with the services they receive from their MGA partners. In addition, for the fifth consecutive year, Insurance Times has given a star rating out of five, linked to performance score. This provides a more practical tool to help brokers assess MGAs and for MGAs to benchmark performance more easily.
The 2025 MGA survey was open to UK brokers throughout July and September 2025. Brokers were asked to identify and rate the MGAs with which they have regularly placed business during the past 12 months. In total, 1,673 brokers from across the country took part. The MGA survey focused on how brokers rated the overall service provided to them by their MGA partners over the past 12-month business period.
