Who was the maddest man in Birmingham last week? CBI director general Digby Jones would be a good candidate.
It seems that the CII was waiting for Jones, who was due to be the last speaker at this year's conference. However, a message came through that he was caught in traffic.
So rather than have everyone waiting around on a Friday afternoon, the CII decided to end the conference early.
However, one delegate bumped into Jones just as he was leaving the conference. Apparently after struggling against the traffic he had finally arrived at the ICC.
Our insider says "he was not a happy bunny".
