The Home Office has appointed Crawford & Company and Cunningham Lindsey to manage all uninsured riot claims made to the Police Authority.

Cunningham Lindsey will provide the first notification of loss response, using a claim form on the DirectGov website.

Investigation and assessment of claims will then be split equally between Cunningham and Crawford.

Each company will report directly to the relevant police authority, which will make the final decision on settlement.

A joint spokesperson for Crawford and Cunningham said: "We are pleased that by collaborating, we have been able to provide a swift response to an urgent and significant crisis situation.

"We are committed to ensuring that every claim is dealt with fairly and promptly so that those affected receive the compensation they are entitled to under the terms of the Riot Damages Act."
