Your page 3 headline (News, 7 September) "First City to open in second city" cries out for correction.
If First City wants to do this, then it needs to open in Birmingham. By no measure is the City of Manchester in contention with Birmingham for this ranking.
For instance, its population, according to the 2001 census, was 392,819 compared with 977,087 for Birmingham. If you count the population of Greater Manchester, then for a true comparison you must look at the population of West Midlands and again, it is no contest.
Manchester may be a nice enough place but it is no match for Birmingham!
