Norwich Union (NU) has apologised for a cash bonus offer to staff who recommend a friend for a job, according to reports.
Sources said NU handed out leaflets at its Perth, Scotland call centre promising £250 to members of staff who could put forward someone they knew for recruitment.
The insurer announced last month it would shed 200 jobs in Perth.
According to the BBC, a spokeswoman for NU said: "We're sorry this has caused some sensitivities in this case."
