Rebus iS, a provider of IT services to the global insurance market, is to shed 70 employees with immediate effect, as part of its corporate restructuring.

The restructuring aims to enhance operational efficiencies, generate cost savings and allow the company to handle current economic conditions more effectively.

It also involves several changes at board level. Robert Gogel has been named as the company's new chief executive officer. He succeeds Roger Summers, who retired in early January.

Gogel, 49, joins Rebus iS from global investment firm Antfactory, where he was senior vice-president and general manager.

Prior to Antfactory, he was group executive vice-president and a member of the executive committee at the AXA Group. He has also previously worked at Siemens Nixdorf, Siemens Business Services and Gemini Consulting.

Summers will be taking a consultative role in the company as it moves forward.

Gogel, who will be responsible for implementing the new structure, said: "In the current economic climate, we aim to thrive rather than survive and the reorganisation will strengthen Rebus iS's position going forward."

The structural changes include consolidating research and development into a single technology division for fast-track market entry of new products.

Rebus iS also said that sales and marketing director Gary Lowrey was leaving the board after two years, having successfully fulfilled his remit.

His role was to introduce professional sales and marketing disciplines and lead the company's re-branding following the formation of Rebus iS, as well as to orchestrate several major sales campaigns.

Lowrey will now pursue new ventures outside of the company.

Part of the Rebus Group, Rebus iS supplies business-to-business e-commerce and e-fulfilment solutions.

It operates in the London market, the international P&C market and in the reinsurance market.
