Hanks steps down in 2013 after 45 years and will hand reins to Simon McGinn

Chris Hanks, Allianz

Allianz Commercial general manager Chris Hanks is to retire next year, and will be replaced by current broker markets director Simon McGinn.

The exact timing of Hanks’ departure will depend on Allianz finding a successor for McGinn. Hanks told Insurance Times that the company is searching for a replacement both internally and externally.

Hanks said he had made the choice to leave. He turns 63 next year and has been with the company in its various forms for 45 years – almost 10 of those in his current role.

“I’ve had a fantastic time at Allianz, but you can’t stay forever,” he said.

Hanks joined Allianz as commercial underwriting and marketing executive in 1999 following the German insurer’s takeover of French insurance group AGF. He was appointed general manager of Allianz Commercial in 2003.
