Retired Allianz general manager replaces Richard Youell

Former Allianz Commercial general manager Chris Hanks has been appointed non-executive director of Liberty Specialty Markets.

Hanks retired from Allianz in June and his appointment to Liberty’s board follows the retirement of Richard Youell.

Chairman Keith Nicholson said: “On behalf of the board I would like to thank Richard for his contribution over the years. It has been greatly valued by the board and the management team.”

Group president and managing director Nick Metcalf said: “Chris is one of the leading lights of the UK insurance industry and a tremendous addition to our board. His knowledge, insight and experience is unrivalled. We are truly grateful to have his services and I personally look forward to Chris working alongside me.”

Hanks remains the chairman of Polaris UK and in October was named a non-executive chairman of Jelf’s network Purple Partnership.

The 2025 Insurance Times Awards took place on the evening of Wednesday 3rd December in the iconic Great Room of London’s Grosvenor House.
