UIB hires upstream energy head

Independent reinsurance broker United Insurance Brokers (UIB) has appointed Joss Raven as divisional director of its upstream energy division.

Joss, who will be based at UIB’s Mansell Street headquarters in London, brings more than 20 years’ experience as an oil and gas specialist working in the London and international upstream markets. In addition to serving on the management of the team, Joss will be active in servicing key accounts and designing insurance and reinsurance programmes for UIB clients and prospects. 

Prior to joining UIB, Joss was a client executive at Marsh Energy with particular responsibility for Sub Saharan Africa. He began his career with Marsh Marine & Energy as a trainee in the hull and offshore department and was subsequently appointed vice president of the offshore department working with independent and major US oil companies.

UIB chief executive Philip Tuite Dalton said: “Joss brings an excellent track record and expertise in upstream energy to UIB. His experience will be particularly helpful to our clients in growth markets such as Sub Saharan Africa, and much more broadly than that, particularly in the Middle East and Europe.”
