Company history: Halifax Insurance Company Ltd was acquired by Provident Financial plc in 1978 and in 1994 the company's name was changed to Provident Insurance.

Biography: Mark Collier graduated in law and then joined Provincial Insurance where he spent eight years in various locations across the UK. Collier has also worked for Iron Trades Insurance Group where he managed various functions in the motor and personal lines operation.
Collier joined Provident Insurance in 1995, completing an MBA at Bradford University and becoming operations director in July 1999. He was appointed managing director in 2001.
