BNP Paribas to buy Belgium banking and insurance operations
French bank BNP Paribas is to will take control of the main Belgian banking and insurance operations of Fortis in a deal worth Euros 14.5bn.
The move follows the nationalisation of the group’s Dutch businesses.
Fortis's international insurance businesses, including Fortis UK, remain owned by Fortis shareholders.
