Financial Ombudsman Service chief executive Natalie Ceeney has raised concerns about potential mis-selling of ancillary products, like mobile phone insurance.

In an exclusive interview with Insurance Times, Ceeney agreed with the statement that problems with the mis-selling of such ‘add-ons’ could become the next payment protection insurance scandal.

The ombudsman’s service successfully defended a recent judicial review of its handling of PPI cases by the British Bankers Association.

Ceeney said: “Extra care needs to be taken on ancillary products. Anything where there’s a risk of mis-selling and bundling of products needs to be thought through quite carefully."
