Applications software giant Siebel Systems this week won a deal to standardise Co-operative Insurance's (CIS) customer-facing web-based operations.

CIS will utilise Siebel's ebusiness application eFinance to create a new customer information management system.

CIS general manager Charkes McKeown said: “Our assessment determined that Siebel eFinance's technology platform and functionality specific to our industry will enable CIS to deploy the solution very quickly.”

The insurer plans to exploit the system to improve its consumer data and create individual customer histories from first-point contact that all relevant staff can access.

The new technology platform will also let customers deal with CIS across fax, email, the internet and face-to-face.

CIS's 5,500 agents will also be able to access their customers' financial product holdings and gain a more accurate idea of their needs.

Siebel also claims the system will help CIS's marketing team develop direct mail and advertising campaigns.

The software giant provides applications to Prudential and Ecclesiastical in the UK and boasts such clients as Axa and Zurich on the Continent.
