Bluefin Underwriting hires Coughlan as head of finance

Bluefin Underwriting has hired Ian Coughlan as head of finance reporting into Paul Drake (pictured), head of Bluefin Underwriting.

Coughlan has spent the last eight months working with the Bluefin Underwriting team as a specialist consultant. He previously spent six years as finance director at Jardine Lloyd Thompson UK and Thistle Insurance.

“I am excited at the prospect of continuing to help build what is already an interesting business, on a permanent basis,” Coughlan said. “The opportunity for Bluefin Underwriting to be a first choice market in its chosen specialisms is there to be realised.”

Drake said Coughlan will add strong financial, commercial and strategic acumen to the Bluefin team.

“These attributes are imperative to our plans as we build Bluefin Underwriting into the ‘go to’ specialist insurer for our key broker and distribution partners,” he said.

“Ian’s broader knowledge of Risk and Compliance matters within the MGA environment adds additional value.”
