Aka Agencies is launching an online travel insurance service for its 4,000-strong base of intermediaries.

The service goes live on September 11 to sell its multi- and single-trip policies. It can be accessed via a standard internet-compatible PC.

Agencies signing up to this initiative will be issued with a secure password, enabling them to access the online service for immediate quotations on multi- and single-trip policies. The system will complete the policy transaction and instantly generate all customer documentation.

The travel policies, which are underwritten at Lloyd's, will feature an improved commission structure to reflect the savings from transacting business online.

Managing director Robert Ayrton said: “We are determined to position ourselves at the forefront of internet-based initiatives, delivering to our agencies an easy-to-use online service that not only opens the way to enhanced commissions, but makes a real, positive impact on customer service within the broker's office.

“We do recognise that not all intermediary offices have internet-compatible PCs at present. But the relatively low costs associated with acquiring a suitable PC can soon be covered with the opportunity to improve commission levels from day one using our new service.”
