14-date European tour cancellation affects 200,000 ticket holders
Sir Elton John’s summer tour has been cancelled, triggering a £10m insurance claim, according to the Mirror newspaper.
The singer was forced to leave the stage at a concert in Halle, Germany last Friday, due to appendicitis. His 14-date European tour this summer has been cancelled as a result.
Sir Elton’s performances would have seen him play to audiences totalling more than 200,000 people, with some tickets costing in excess of £100.
According to the Mirror: “Now doctors have found out what forced him to leave the stage in Germany, they can use the medical information to get the insurers to cough up.”
The insurers covering the singer’s tour are unconfirmed.
