The timetable for the introduction of the alternative business structures (ABS), also commonly known as the Tesco Law, has been delayed until the end of the year.

An SRA spokesman confirmed that the original deadline of October would now be pushed back because of delays in the parliamentary process.

The SRA is optimistic that ABS will be in force by the end of the year.

The ABS is known as Tesco Law because it will open up ownership of law firms to outside businesses, such as the supermarket giant.
