Access Underwriting has no connection with under-investigation AccessBI

Broker Access Underwriting has moved to reassure clients that it has no connection with the managing general agency (MGA) AccessBI, which is being investigated by the FCA.

In a statement released on Friday, Access Underwriting managing director Simon Hickman said: “We confirm that Access Underwriting Ltd have no connection with AccessBI Ltd or Access Risk Management Group and have placed no business with the group.

“We can assure all our policyholders that they have been placed with authorised insurers and that there is no reason to be concerned.

“Access Underwriting Ltd are chartered insurance brokers and we pride ourselves on upholding the professionalism of the industry and operate to high ethical and moral standards to provide the best advice for our clients.”

Last week a letter from AccessBI, which is part of Access Risk Management Group, was sent to brokers telling them the MGA was being investigated by the FCA.

The MGA added it had closed its AccessBI insurance platform and its client accounts had been frozen until the investigation is complete.

AccessBI stressed it was doing “everything possible” to get statements to confirm cover on an individual insured basis.

Some brokers who placed business through AccessBI have been trying to find new cover for their clients, including Giles and James Hallam.
