Minister places insurance shares in blind trust

Under fire justice minister Jonathan Djanogly has placed his stakes in various insurance related businesses in a blind trust.

In the register of MPs’ interests, Djanogly states that “on 26 October 2010 I transferred to a blind trust my woodland in Dumfriesshire, my registrable shareholdings and my minority share in the Djanogly Family LLP (member of Lloyd’s).”

Placing shares in a blind trust means that their owner cannot intervene in the way they are handled.

The declaration was placed on the register on September 23rd following newspaper allegations that the shares held by Djanogly and his immediate family in various insurance businesses meant that he stood to benefit from the government’s Jackson review inspired-shake up of civil litigation costs.

The minister holds a stake in the Djanogly Family LLP, as well as shares in Amlin.

Djanogly branded the allegations ‘lazy and shoddy journalism’ in a meeting at last week’s Conservative Party conference.

The 2025 Insurance Times Awards took place on the evening of Wednesday 3rd December in the iconic Great Room of London’s Grosvenor House.

Hosted by comedian and actor Tom Allen, 34 Gold, 23 Silver and 22 Bronze awards were handed out across an amazing 34 categories recognising brilliance and innovation right across the breadth of UK general insurance.
Many congratulations to all the worthy winners and as always, huge thanks to our sponsors for their support and our judges for their expertise.
