David McMillan promises continued broker support, while looking to continue rebrand

New Aviva general insurance boss David McMillan has pledged his continuing support for brokers in 2010.

Talking to Insurance Times the day after his appointment (see: Aviva's McMillan lands top job in UK general insurance) he said ‘our broker business is the jewel in the crown.'

Asked if he would continue to woo small brokers, McMillan said: “The short answer is yes. You have to look at where our heartland is. Our heartland is 30 odd branches and 1800 underwriters and 300 bonus sites, that’s where our real USP (unique selling point) is and we have got to continue to utilise that.”

Aviva would continue to push ahead with its rebrand in 2010, including spending money on advertising, he added.
