Quinn administrators writes to brokers

Quinn Insurance will not renew UK policies unless it received written instructions to do so before 6 April, its administrators told brokers in a letter this week.

The letter, sent to UK brokers on 2 April, is the first sign that Quinn could be entering run-off in the UK with the insurer saying it would not even honour renewal quotations unless they had been accepted in writing.

“Existing policies with Quinn Insurance Limited with a renewal date up to and including Tuesday 6 April 2010 can be renewed, providing written renewal instructions have been received prior to 6 April 2010. Terms will not be offered on renewals past this date," the letter said.

Quinn Insurance has been placed in provisional administration pending a High Court hearing in Dublin on 12 April.
