Lloyds TSB Insurance is offering a refund of up to £100 to customers who switch their home insurance to the bancassurer before the end of January 2000.
The insurer promised to double the difference if its quote fails to beat any comparable premium from a customer's existing insurer.
It is also enticing homeowners with generous terms, including no claims discounts.
Discounts offered will vary, depending on the number of claim-free years the customer had with their previous insurer.
And new Lloyds TSB customers can pay by interest-free monthly instalments.
Keith Gibbs, sales and marketing director for the insurer, said: "Looking around for a home insurance quote can be a painstaking task. We know we can better many other insurers' premiums which is why we are prepared to put our money where our mouth is. So, if our comparable quote is more expensive than the customer's existing deal, we will pay them double the difference ( up to £100) when they switch to us."
The key features of Lloyds TSB home contents insurance are: cover up to £50,000 on a new for old basis, automatic protection for accidental damage to white and brown goods, replacement locks following theft or loss of keys, and extras such as pedal cycle cover.
