History: The Iron Trades Employers' Insurance Association was created in 1898 to fill the need for an insurer that understood the liability insurance of the iron and steel industries. Iron Trades was acquired by QBE International Insurance in February 2000. A strategic review of Iron Trades Insurance operations in the spring of 2000 was the catalyst for a major re-structuring programme resulting in renewed focus to core employers' liability business. QBE acquired Iron Trades to achieve a strong position as a leading employers' liability insurer in the UK. QBE and Iron Trades will further develop this class of business with a valued brand name
