History: Cornhill Insurance is one of the largest general insurers in the UK and since 1986 has been part of the Allianz Group, one of Europe's leading global insurers and provider of financial services.

In 1998, Allianz acquired 51% of Assurances Générales de France (AGF). As a result, AGF's commercial lines portfolio and selected personal lines business in the UK were transferred into Cornhill.

Cornhill Insurance is divided into trading divisions and in 1999 the company's principal distribution channel, the broker channel, was re-organised into two divisions.

Allianz Cornhill responds to the commercial insurance needs of brokers outside London through a network of 12 regional branches situated throughout the UK. Personal Lines business is handled through two specialist centres based in Bristol and Leeds.

Allianz Cornhill International serves the needs of London brokers both domestically and for global risks. The division has an established reputation for international corporate business. ACI also provides the link with the Allianz Group's world-wide network and manages the UK relationship with all international and national brokers.

Cornhill, through its subsidiary Trafalgar Insurance, acts as underwriting partner for the broker-only marketing initiative, Broker Direct.

Cornhill has become one of the best known names in the financial services industry as a result of its sponsorship of English test match cricket. The association came to an end in 2000, after 23 years.
