Company history:

Genworth Financial was created in May 2004 when General Electric sold some of its insurance assets in an IPO. In the UK, the company is a leading provider of payment protection insurance and mortgage insurance. The underwriting companies for these two categories were established in 1972 and 1993, respectively.

Genworth Financial Payment Protection Insurance (previously GE Financial Insurance) and Genworth Financial Mortgage Insurance, Europe (previously GE Mortgage Insurance) are part of the Genworth Financial group which was created in 2004 when General Electric sold some of its insurance assets in an IPO. Due to insurance regulations, Genworth Financial Payment Protection Insurance writes longer-term disability creditor business as Class 1 through a sister company, Financial Assurance Company Limited, which is not shown here.
