Fire could triggers £25m claims

A fire that destroyed a Waitrose store in Banstead, Surrey, could lead to up to £25m in claims, although it is understood the final payout will be less. AIG, RSA, Endurance and Mitsui are all understood to have exposure to business interruption insurance. Police are treating the fire on 12 December last year as “potentially suspicious”. Waitrose and the insurers declined to comment.
