History: Liberty Mutual Insurance Co. (UK) was created in 1974 and celebrated its 25th Anniversary in the London Market in 1999. It was re-capitalised in 1993 under the direction of Dick Hazell, chairman, and Mark Bodkin, managing director, and now has funds invested of approximately £400m.
Since formation the company has enjoyed significant and profitable growth through a combination of professional underwriting and strong individual and corporate relationships. The company is a subsidiary of Boston-based Liberty Mutual Group, one of the world's largest insurance groups, and operates within the Liberty International Group, which has significant presence in Japan, Canada, Mexico, Venezuela, Brazil and Argentina.
