A fire onboard a passenger train travelling from Cairo to Luxor has killed more than 370 people.

It is believed the blaze was started by a passenger using a gas stove to cook with.

The train was almost twice as full as normal because people were travelling to join their families for the Eid al-Adha festival. Many were trapped on the train by iron bars on the windows.

The situation was worsened as the driver did not realise the train was on fire so continued for 7km before stopping.

The search for bodies ended yesterday evening.
