HISTORY
Denis M Clayton & Co was founded in 1972 by Denis Clayton and John Goldsmith.
The company was acquired on 26 November 2002 by Towers Perrin, one of the world's largest global professional services firms.
Clayton is part of the reinsurance business at Towers Perrin providing insurance and reinsurance intermediary and consulting services. The business is the fifth world-ranked reinsurance intermediary. It places around $4bn of premium into the marketplace.

BIOGRAPHY
John Goldsmith began his career in 1966 as a reinsurance broker trainee with Alexander Howden. In 1970 he joined Bradstock Blunt & Crawley, and two years later he co-founded Denis M Clayton with Denis Clayton, and became chairman of the company when Denis Clayton retired in 1986.
Goldsmith is a member of the management committee and the reinsurance executive committee of Towers Perrin - Reinsurance. He is also an elected member of two London insurance market associations - the London Market Brokers Committee and the Brokers Reinsurance Committee, on which he serves as chairman.
