6% would make false claim

Moneysupermarket.com says almost 402,000 Britons have confessed to making a fake home insurance claim already and 2.4 million (6%) would make a false claim, up from 5% in August last year.

• Of those that do nearly 80% haven't made a claim in the past five years
• Of the 17.3 % who have claimed 4% have claimed once in the last two years, and 2% have made more than one claim in the past year.
