Insurer says quotation price was a mistake

The AA have quoted a teenager almost £33,000 for his car insurance, according to the BBC.

Jake Redshaw, 17, was quoted the figure for his six-year-old Vauxhall Corsa after passing his driving test in March.

The AA said the quotation price was a mistake.

Redshaw said: "The average [price] was probably about £12,000, £13,000 and the cheapest was £5,700. And I got £33,000 from AA.

"I can't insure it. If I want to go out I'll have to get my mum or dad to drop me off to go out. I can't be independent as I wanted to be."

The 2025 Insurance Times Awards took place on the evening of Wednesday 3rd December in the iconic Great Room of London’s Grosvenor House.

Hosted by comedian and actor Tom Allen, 34 Gold, 23 Silver and 22 Bronze awards were handed out across an amazing 34 categories recognising brilliance and innovation right across the breadth of UK general insurance.
