Injured soldier who walked at Wembley gets payout

Abacus Insurance has paid out to wounded Afghan soldier Private Dave Tatlock after reviewing his claims when he carried the Carling Cup on to the pitch at Wembley, the Telegraph reports.

Tatlock, 20, from Manchester, was told he might never walk again after being hit by shrapnel in a friendly fire incident, but walked on the pitch in February before Manchester United’s final against Aston Villa. A worker at Abacus Insurance put his claim under review.

The firm contacted the Defence Medical Rehabilitation Centre at Headley Court in Surrey, where he was receiving treatment, to say part of his payout was being assessed the following day.
