The move follows rises in the cost of liability insurance, which has affected the voluntary sector, including charities.

The action day will be held at Loughborough University and is designed to give groups an understanding of current issues affecting the cost and availability of insurance cover.

It will examine the steps that can be taken to improve access to insurance protection.

John Parker, ABI head of general insurance, said: "Understanding the risks they face, and how to reduce them, has never been more important for the voluntary and charitable sector.

"This action day aims to enhance better understanding of risk management among voluntary and charity groups, as well as improving insurers' understanding of the voluntary sector."
