New York attorney general Eliot Spitzer has named Ace in his lawsuit against Marsh Ltd.
The complaint filed by Spitzer against Marsh, a unit of Marsh & McLennan, has hit the share prices of some of the largest players in the US insurance market.
Marsh & McLennan chief executive Jeffrey Greenburg has released a statement announcing the company's cooperation with the investigation.
His brother Evan Greenberg, chief executive of Ace, has followed suit announcing the company's position on the lawsuit.
In a statement the company said: “The attorney general of the State of New York filed a civil lawsuit today against Marsh & McLennan Companies, Inc. and Marsh Inc.
“Although Ace is not named as a defendant, Ace and several other insurers are referenced in the complaint.
“We have been cooperating with the attorney general's office since earlier this year in this matter, and we intend to continue to cooperate fully with the investigation."
