ACE European Group has poached executives from rival insurer Chartis and broker Marsh to bolster its UK accident and health (A&H) team. The company said this is part of its commitment to expand across the UK.

Former Chartis employee Mark Elliker joins ACE as Midlands A&H underwriting manager, specialising in acccident and health protection. Mark will be based in ACE's Birmingham office and report to Paul Jennings, ACE corporate regional manager, Midlands.

Ex-Marsh UK executive Richard Clark joins ACE as A&H corporate business development manager for London and the South East.

The insurer has also made an internal promotion to strengthen the team. Peter Bremner, who joined ACE as regional EMEA student travel coordinator earlier this year, will be changing roles and joining the corporate business development unit for A&H in London.

Clark and Bremner will report to Jon Houghton, ACE corporate regional manager for London and the South East.

"ACE European Group is seeing rising interest from brokers and clients in its accident and health products, which we attribute to our offering comprehensive cover combined with high levels of customer service," Houghton said in a statement. "We are actively expanding our team and regional capabilities so that we can continue to offer products with the standard of responsiveness and expertise people have come to expect."
