Software firm sets up commercial quote system for Acturis users

Brokers on the Acturis system will be transacting commercial business via imarket within the next two weeks.

Acturis joint chief executive Theo Duchen said: "We are the first software house to be able to claim realistically that we are ready to go with imarket."

The software house claimed that brokers will be able to use the imarket platform to get quotes from insurers Groupama, Norwich Union and Royal & SunAlliance as early as the end of the month. Initially the platform will be used to get quotes for small commercial risks, particularly small retailers.

Duchen said: "Many of the other software houses don't have the capability to make the most of imarket, and that is one of the reasons why we continue to pick up business.

"imarket represents the future for brokers and insurers."

Acturis said it had now been set up on the imarket live site with an allocated ID of S0000100001, making it the first software house to be fully registered.

Rival Misys said that imarket integration was still "a major priority" and it was currently working on integrating two business lines onto the platform.

Meanwhile, Richard Crocker, head of e-business at SSP, said: "We are as committed as ever to imarket but there is a debate over whether to go live with the current version. We may take a pragmatic approach and wait for the forthcoming upgrade."
